Playing in the torrential rain, the U10s had their first home game of the season vs Purton. The quality from both teams was outstanding and there were some great examples of individual skill and team play. After a goalless first quarter, the U10s took a deserved lead with Fin Stratford steering home a strong shot after a good run. Arthur Quli and Idris Thomas-Jones made a formidable partnership in the middle and, along with Archie Walker, fed the ball out from the back very effectively. Fin Marshall, Jaden Wiltshire and Dylan Morse worked well on the wings with several fine runs and crosses while Ez Allen and Luke Dawson positively contributed both in goal and outfield. Shortly after a spell of sustained pressure from the U10s where Louis Kingsbury twice nearly scored Sam Potter converted possession into a goal from close range to give the U10s a two goal cushion. Purton then pulled one back before Jaden quickly restored the two goal lead. However, Purton scored again to lead to a nervy last few minutes but the U10s held on to secure a deserved win. At times the team play some really lovely football and are a joy to watch. Fin Stratford was awarded player of the match for his commanding display.
